see me*know me*love me

i woke up this morning
to find this picture in my inbox
sent from my sweetie last night.

it evoked that feeling we all long for.
to be seen.
to be known.

at the same time,
my experience has been
(in multiple relationships)
that the more i am seen,
the more i am known,
the more i am risking.

to be totally seen
creates opportunity
for the "seer" to not like
what
they
see.

the thing we long for the most
might be the most dangerous.

but last night,
he saw me.

and he liked what he saw.
and that was like sweet healing balm
on a heart that is feeling pretty undone this fall.

(and yes, that is raven black SHORT hair you are seeing! proper pics to come soon.)

right now i am so jealous of how soundly it appears you are sleeping in that picture.

i know that's not what this post is about, but i am so tired. and since having kids, i am a super light sleeper. even if they aren't here.

OMGosh I just love this post. i am in the midst of "being seen" and "seeing" and you're right... it's scary and risky and downright terrifying. i love that he thought to photograph you at your most vulnerable. great post...wish i wasn't so behind in my blog reading!

i just found your blog through another and this post sealed the deal.

i also loved that he thought to photograph you, might have to forward a link to your husband. it would be nice to be "seen" more, actually.
