Snapshot
(a shot from yesterday)
in seminary, we talked about spiritual formation in the context of "knowing, being, and doing".
so . . .
today . . . .
knowing:
i am loved. by god. by herb. by friends. it is a good thing.
it is okay . . . it is all okay.
a little bit at a time, for a long time produces great progress.
there is grace for me and for me to give to others.
being:
patient
nervous
wound up
trying to enjoy
grateful
filled with joy
quiet
doing:
painting & art-making . . . lots of experimenting and giving myself permission to just create without expectation
volutneering at the hospital
inhaling and exhaling
swimming
margarita drinking
have a great day!

I love your top in that picture. And I love the picture. I'm going to print it and frame it! Right above my bed I'll hang it.
Cara,
Where did you go to seminary?
My husband wants to study Spiritual Formation and be a counselor someday. Thats pretty much why we moved to Seattle last year...except now we're in CA and seminary is on hold.
I'd love to hear more...
BTW, thanks for the honest posting.
Oh, thats it....reminds me of Sabrina Ward-Harrison. She is what got Elsie and I into starting RVA.
rachel . . .
i went to denver seminary.
they have a great spiritual formation program.
and a good (but not great) counseling program.
i say that because if your husband has a psychology background, a lot of it will feel like a reapeat of his undergrad.
but it is a good good school and i recommend it.
most importantly, there is a very free, truth-based sense of spirituality there. does that make sense? i felt like i was able to know god and christ for who he is . . . . not force-fed someone else's truth. there is room to wonder and explore and stretch your spiritual muscles there.
and that is more important than the quality of the counseling program if you ask me.
shoot me an email if you want to chat about it.
denver is a fantastic city. i have been here for 8 years.
and i am not sure i caught the sabrina ward-harrison reference. she is quite fabulous though.
go for it jennifer!
i will fully admit that i am strangely photogenic. and i am not bragging - because the flip side of that is that i am actually more attractive when caught in a picture than i am in real life. weird, huh?
now that i am a size 10/12, i am thinking about becoming a plus size model..
can you believe that if i wanted to model, i would be a PLUS size model?
our culture sucks sometimes!!!
Her writing is very honest. It isn't filtered and polished but it still sounds poetic. Thanks for the Denver Seminary info. I'll be e-mailing soon.
